Koh Samui Airport is small enough that you will not get lost inside it, but the choices outside the terminal can be confusing after a long flight. This guide sets out what is available, roughly how long each option takes, and how to arrange a private transfer that meets you at the arrivals exit.
What you will find at the arrivals exit
After immigration and baggage collection, follow the signs to the main arrivals exit. Outside, you will see taxi ranks, shared shuttle desks and private transfer drivers holding signs. The airport is compact, so everything is within a short walk of the terminal.

Rough journey times from the airport: Chaweng and Bophut around 20 to 30 minutes, Lamai around 30 to 45 minutes, and the south and west coasts such as Nathon and Taling Ngam closer to an hour. Evening traffic can add to these figures, particularly around the Chaweng junction.

What to expect at the airport

For departures, the terminal opens several hours before the first flight. Arrive at least two hours ahead to allow time for check-in, security and a relaxed start.
